Home Decorating/Improvements (Fair costs)

This time of year is very popular for home decorating/improvements. Its something about the fall season that makes a person ready to decorate/improve the home. Take a few minutes to review this list for what to look for in a home improvement specialist:

1) Is the home improvement person/company qualified for your project?-Check licenses/insurance/experience/the better business bureau/referrals.

2) Will he/she/they use subcontractors?-It can be more difficult to review the background if you are not aware of subcontracted work.

3) How long will the project last?-Delays for weather can occur but you want a resonable time frame for completion.

4) What are the methods of payment?-Credit card is best since you can the dispute charges but a check can be used as proof of payment. If cash is given make sure you receive a receipt with total paid/date paid/work provided.

5) Call/visit people who have had work performed by the home improvement person/company-Ask if work was satisfactory, completed on time, level of professionalism, understanding of the project, and would he/she/they hire again.
